Chats for the Goals: Trends and Developments in Gender Equality and Climate Action in the Pacific
Event description
This event provides recent research findings describing progress and successes, as well as gaps and priorities, in the Pacific. Key themes, case studies, and pathways that promote gender equality for climate action will be presented and discussed.
This research was undertaken in partnership with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the Australia Pacific Climate Partnership, as a contribution to the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction Midterm Review in the Pacific.
About the Presenters:
Anna Gero, Institute for Sustainable Futures
Anna is a resilience, climate change and disaster risk leader and specialist with over 15 years’ experience in the Asia-Pacific region. She is an experienced project manager, having led climate change and disaster resilience consultancies, evaluations, and research projects since 2008 across 10 Pacific Island Countries. With a background in climate science, Anna has an applied understanding of the range of ways climate change and disasters influence development. Her contribution to international development research is underpinned by strong intercultural skills and a keen willingness to ensure research informs policy and practice.
Tazrina Chowdhury, Institute for Sustainable Futures
Tazrina specialises in disaster resilience and climate change adaptation. With nine years’ experience producing research, Tazrina has a demonstrated ability to conduct research under diverse social, cultural, and political contexts and identify practical solutions in partnership with relevant stakeholders. Tazrina holds a PhD in Disaster Resilience and has worked on multiple climate change and disaster projects in Bangladesh and in the Pacific region. Her work is driven by a passion for effecting social change through empowering communities and building resilience.
