Check-in Tuesdays - Amateur Meditation Community
Event description
What is Check-in Tuesdays!?
Looking after yourself can be hard. We've made it easy, with delicious dinner, a beautiful community and time and space to connect with yourself and others.
The format is simple:
Eat. Sit. Write. Chat.
Whilst each week is different, we'll run through exercises proven to reduce stress, increase mindfulness, boost creativity, and build thoughtfulness in all areas of life, including:
Guided meditations and mindfulness exercises
Live performance of relaxing music and soundscapes
Nourishing food that makes you and your body feel good
…and a bunch of free time to just be
It's like a potluck dinner and meditation retreat had a baby. Get that holiday feeling, without needing to leave Canberra.
Bring a friend, have a great time, and go home feeling more connected to what is truly In Our Nature.
What do I need to bring?
Journal (either pen + paper or phone is fine). https://journey.cloud/ is a good option if you're looking for an app to use.
NOTE: All food will be vegan, peanut-free and (generally) gluten-free by default. Please let us know in advance if you have other allergies, and we will do our best to accommodate. Food available on a first come, first served basis.
FAQ:
Do I need to be an experienced meditator?
No, we cater for all levels of experience. Guidance will be provided throughout the meditation, seats, cushions, and lying down options provided.
Is this a religious group?
No. There are no religious teaching or theology here. This isn't a 'sit and listen to a talk' event. There is a brief introduction to the theme each week (e.g. 'Patience', 'Nature', 'Wisdom'), and that's it. The rest of the time is guided activities where you create the content (whether that be the focus of your meditation, journalling, conversation, etc.)
Why do you do tun these events?
Because I really enjoy it! I've hosted over 100 intentional events over the past 3 years, and it gives me a lot of joy. I originally started these as a way to have more of the things I wanted in life. I wanted to meditate, play music, eat good food and connect to myself and others. Through creating these spaces, I've realised other people want this too. This event started very much as 'scratching my own itch', but has grown to a community of over 100 individuals, with over 400 attendances to workshops, retreats and community events since 2022.
