Chemistry in the Pub - Thursday August 14th - 7 PM - Free!
Event description
Chemistry in the Pub CBR 14/08/25 - Call for Presenters
As National Science Week approaches it’s time to get Comedic and Convivially Chemical.
Join us for a night of science, stories, and surprises as chemists take the stage - not the lab bench - to share the fascinating, explosive, and sometimes downright weird world of chemistry. From the molecules that power our lives to the reactions behind your favourite drinks, expect a mix of humour, insight, and science served straight up. No chemistry jargon - just brilliant minds and good banter over a beer or wine.
After three sell-out shows at Smiths this year (Food, Maths and Quantum) it’s Chemistry’s turn! We want 8 presenters doing something that will amaze and amuse the audience - last year we had delightful demos, luscious fats, and a song by AI! What will you do?
The call for presenters is open now, so get your creative hat on and dream up a fun way to engage a pub crowd. You have eight minutes - in the past we’ve had demos, rhymes, stand-up, quizzes and even interpretive dance (and damn good powerpoint talks). What will you do?
Hurry to register, only two spots left for presenters!
MC Dr Phil Dooley will make sure the packed crowd will be warmed up and ready to listen, learn and laugh. We’re committed to showcasing the full diversity of the chemistry community in these events - everyone is invited to take part.
If you are interested please fill in this form. Any questions, ping Phil Dooley phil@philuponscience.com.au
