Theory for HSC Chemistry Teachers 8/9/23
Event description
This NESA ACCREDITED workshop is designed for teachers new to teaching HSC Chemistry plus those who would like to refamiliarise themselves with the content, background theory and make connections across the different modules of the HSC Chemistry syllabus. We will be unpacking:
- Equilibrium and Acid Reactions
- Acid/Base Reactions
- Organic Chemistry
- Applying Chemical Ideas
- Opportunities for Depth Studies
In addition, we will connect with the 'assumed knowledge' from the Year 11 syllabus.
NESA ACCREDITATION
Completing Theory for HSC Chemistry Teachers will contribute 5 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Delivery and Assessment of NSW Curriculum/EYLF addressing Standard Descriptor 2.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
A Certificate of Completion will be sent to Graduate Teachers for their evidence.
Workshop Delivered by Dr Col Harrison
Col began teaching in Sydney's golden west in 1988. Since then he has worked in the public and private sector as well as holding several roles in teacher training and development with Peer Support Australia and Beaconhouse in the United Arab Emirates. He has HSC marking experience in Biology and Chemistry and has a YouTube channel to support flipped learning in the classroom. Col is the current Head of Science and Leader of Professional Learning at St Philip's Christian College, Port Stephens.
