Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN)

Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN) is a form of abuse and is classed as an ACE (adverse childhood experience). CEN leads to isolation and loneliness, which in turn progresses to an inability to thrive and potential unhealthy life-style choices with life-long damage to personal relationships with parents, families, siblings, children and intimate relations. People with CEN are often great at listening; however; they are not open to sharing their own personal emotions and feelings.

Therapists need to understand the influence that CEN has on our clients that is preventing them from thriving, unable to move forward, as they feel they unworthy, unloveable, unimportant, unseen, unheard and not valued or validated. They feel powerless to be able to identify and express their emotions and feelings and unable to place health boundaries in their lives.

This workshop is for psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers, trauma specialists, trauma transformative practitioners, GP’s, allied health practitioners, psychiatrists and other mental healthcare professionals who work with clients experiencing complex trauma, attachment wounds, shame, emotional dysregulation, shutdown, avoidance, dissociation and recurring relational issues within families and relationships. shutdown, avoidance, dissociation and recurring relational issues within families and relationships.
