Join us at a one-day workshop as we continue to work towards a New Zealand wide culture of Child Protection and understand your responsibilities under the Children’s Act, 2014.

This course will enable you to understand your responsibilities under the Children’s Act, 2014 (previously the Vulnerable Children’s Act, 2014) and to meet the Governance and Management Criteria of the Early Childhood Education Licensing Criteria.

In this workshop you will explore the following:

  • The Vulnerable Children Act – Why this was developed and the change from Vulnerable Children’s Act, 2014 to Children’s Act, 2014
  • Scope of the Children's Act, 2014 – Core and Non-Core workers, safety checking requirements
  • Early Learning services responsibilities under the Children's Act, 2014 – what checks need to be undertaken 
  • Components of Safety Checking
  • Child Protection Policy including what to do when something goes wrong
  • Practices and Processes for effective implementation of your policy
  • Participants will create action plans in response to the day’s session

This day will be of interest to Centre and Home Based Owners, Professional Leaders and Visiting Teachers.

Registration includes morning tea and lunch.
