Children's Dharma Club
Event description
These are monthly sessions offered by donation at Atisha Centre.
Aimed at Primary School children aged between 5 and 12 years.
The sessions run from 10:00am to 11:00am.
The basic format of the session:
We usually begin with talking to the children about the benefits of meditation as well as asking them what they understand meditation to be.
We go through the sitting posture and simple breathing techniques.
There is a story based on a theme and then we do a meditation based on the theme. Other meditations can include visualisation and imagination.
We also do a couple of activities that are fun and provide tools to help with focus and that the children can do at home whenever they need to.
Basically, it is very fluid as all groups are different and children are very open. We find that it is helpful for children to feel empowered and have confidence to be able to deal with their thoughts and emotions in positive ways.
Always keeping in mind loving kindness, caring and respect for all living beings.
No real need to bring anything other than a snack or drink for your child to have after the session.
