The CREATE Centre at the University of Sydney invites all those who care for children’s health & wellbeing to join Michael Balfour, Lynne Seear and Persephone Sextou in a conversation about the provision of the arts in a fast-changing international digital landscape.

Let us begin by supposing that societies are to develop seriously caring support systems for children. To make this work, how rich and diverse must the artistic resources be, to effectively complement healthcare?

What does it mean to be human as an artist, a learner and a health professional in an evolving, technology-enabled (and tech governed) world? How can we maintain a human-centred approach to the arts while addressing the challenges of digital applications? Can we make meaning of illness by using digital arts remotely when social and healthcare systems encounter a drastic shift, as happened during the pandemic?

Most particularly, this expert panel will express what they are discovering about the role applied theatre and digital arts can play in creating inclusive opportunities and accessible projects for hospitalised children.
