Chinese New Year Calligraphy Night in Brisbane - Write Your Own Couplets

Every Chinese New Year, families hang red couplets on either side of the front door. They're hand-written wishes for luck, health and a good year ahead. This January, you'll write your own.

A calligraphy master will teach you the basic brush strokes, then show you how couplets are written and what the traditional phrases mean. You'll practise until the strokes feel natural, then write your own set on red paper.

Your ticket includes:

• A calligraphy lesson with a calligraphy master

• All materials included

• Take home your own set of beautiful New Year couplets

• A glass of Chardonnay or Chinese tea

• Chinese desserts

• No Chinese or art skills needed

P.S. Chinese New Year starts on Saturday 6 February 2027. It's the Year of the Fire Goat, the most creative sign in the zodiac, linked with gentleness and harmony. Your couplets will be ready to hang just in time.

Special thanks to 'The Vita Nova' Woolloongabba for providing such a beautiful space. Free street parking available.

Kids over age 5 are welcome but must by accompanying by parent at all times. Parents are responsible for supervising their kids. We will have a kids table at the back with Chinese New Year paper crafts to create. We also invite kids to participate with the calligraphy writing with their parents. Please contact us to let us know if your kids are attending.

After the event, we recommend visiting Little Red Dumpling down the road for dinner to complete your Chinese culinary experience.

We look forward to connecting with you!
