    Event description

ChinLEAD K-6 Module One: Developing Maths Leaders at Your Primary School (5 hrs)

Module One of the ChinLEAD series will empower school teams of up to 6 people (4 teachers, a maths leader and a school leader) with the curriculum knowledge to teach high-quality maths, fundamental strategies for leading maths, and the tools to identify where your school needs to go on its maths journey.

During a whole-day workshop with Anita, followed by a 30-minute mentoring call, your developing maths leaders will work on their strategy and leadership skills, as well as their pedagogy and content knowledge:

    Pedagogy and content knowledge
    - Deepen mathematical content knowledge by diving into the developmental sequences of learning in the NSW syllabus.

    Strategy and leadership

    - Understand the function and roles of a Maths Crew.

    - Using Anita’s Whole-School Approach Model, understand the essential ingredients of a high-quality maths lesson, as well as the culture, beliefs, behaviours and practices which go into best-practice primary mathematics.

    - Use Anita’s Health Check tool to analyse your school’s strengths and weaknesses in maths, build whole-school goals, prioritise initiatives and track impact over the course of your journey.

    - Use Anita’s 10-minute Planning Guide to translate your vision into concrete goals with an achievable, sustainable plan of action.

    - Plan your school's next steps, with guidance from Anita. (30-min mentoring call)

Resources to take back to school

    - Explore Anita’s Complete Leading Maths Toolkit: a big orange folder containing the essential language, tools and classroom resources that Anita uses to deliver high-quality teaching and learning of mathematics K-6.

    Who should attend?

Before registering, you will need to nominate a Maths Crew - a team of 3 to 6 maths enthusiasts, depending on school size. Your Maths Crew will include:

    • A School Leader – Principal or Deputy Principal
    • A Maths Leader – a member of your executive team
    • Up to four Maths Champions – one classroom teacher from each PL Team.

    How to enrol

STEP ONE: Determine the number of people in your Maths Crew (3-6 depending on school size) and the role each person will have (1 x School Leader, 1 x Maths Leader, 1, 2 or 3 Maths Champions).

    STEP TWO
: Choose which module(s) you would like to enrol in. Schools may enrol in Module One only, or both modules at the same time. Module Two is only open to schools whose teams have already completed Module One.

    STEP THREE
: Grab the number of tickets you need now (credit card or invoice), telling us the names of each person and their Maths Crew role.

Combine ChinLEAD and ChinUPS for a whole-school approach

This year, for the first time ever, Anita will be running her much loved ChinUP after-school workshops alongside the ChinLEAD series in selected NSW regions.

This exciting combination means that while your developing maths leaders are attending ChinLEAD and developing maths muscle and leadership skills to transform maths at your school, your classroom teachers can go to her ChinUP after-school workshops to learn practical, hands-on classroom teaching strategies which support your school’s maths goals.

To find out if there is a ChinUP near you, you can explore the events at the bottom of this page or go to https://anitachinmaths.com.au/... to find out more.
