Chisholm St is a live performance space on Wadawurrung country, Ballarat. We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land and recognise that sovereignty was never ceded.

Hosted by Bronwyn Blaiklock, Chisholm St is an intimate foray into fascinating corners of classical music. The platform was dreamt up in the 2021 global pandemic to provide a performance space for performers based in Ballarat and the region. The annual concert series offers an eclectic program with an ethos of shared inspiration. The intimate space gives you a rare glimpse into creative music-making, up close and personal.

Dancing Shadows | 4 & 5 July*

This performance was scheduled for 20 & 21 June, but due to illness, it has been postponed to 4 & 5 July. All tickets already purchased will be honoured; however, if the new dates don't suit you, please request a refund.

Dancing Shadows features flautist Sarah Goodbourn and pianist Bronwyn Blaiklock. This program explores the ensemble dynamics between piano and flute in some exciting Argentinian, French, and Australian repertoire.

The performance is approximately one hour's duration unless stated otherwise. Concerts start at 6:00 pm; please arrive in time to settle in. Dress for the weather - doors to the deck may be open if the temperature is mild (it is heated). If you are unwell at the time of a concert and you have missed the chance to request a refund, please consider gifting your seat to a friend!

All-Season Pass: nine concerts, March - December (available until 1 June)
Autumn Pass: four concerts, March - June (available until 1 April)
Spring Pass: five concerts, August - December (available until 1 October)

The performers

Sarah Goodbourn studied performance and studio teaching at The University of Melbourne Conservatorium, with further study in Scotland and England. She has extensive experience playing in orchestras and chamber ensembles in Cambridge, London, Melbourne, Sydney, and Ballarat. She is a regular member of the pit orchestra for shows and teaches flute students across several schools in Ballarat.

Bronwyn Blaiklock grew up in Alice Springs. She graduated from the Elder Conservatorium (University of Adelaide) a lifetime ago with a double degree - Honours in piano performance and a Bachelor of Arts. Following that, she studied at the University of Freiburg on a DAAD scholarship. She has worked in the arts and music education industry for over 30 years, achieving high-profile activity in performing arts and professional writing across three states through work as a performer, artistic director, arts administrator, adjudicator, and educator. Bronwyn’s poetry has appeared in various Australian anthologies and in festivals including the Newstead Short Story Tattoo, Words in Winter, Castlemaine Poetry Readings, Clunes Booktown and the Overload Poetry Festival. Bronwyn’s first collection, Etching my Initials, was published in 2016 by Melbourne Poets Union in the New Poets series.

Seating
Bespoke reupholstered deck chairs and lounge suite awaits you, however, be sure to dress warmly as seating extends to an external covered deck (heated) and this is Ballarat, after all.

Children
Young children under school-age are welcome to attend for free, although paid ticket-holders have priority of seating. Children are welcome to enjoy the garden and cubby house during daytime performances.

Refreshments
You are invited to join the performers for refreshments afterwards. This includes wine, cheese, gluten-friendly snacks, light drinks, tea and coffee at no extra charge. You are welcome to bring a bottle of your favourite beverage.
