Choices Facilitator Training: Foundation (In-person)

The Choices Facilitator Foundation Training is a full-day, in-person training for Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) workers from a registered provider who wish to become facilitators of the Choices Drug Intervention Program.

Choices is a court-mandated, single-session (3-hour) intervention program for adults involved in the justice system. It explores the relationship between AOD use and offending, identifying patterns and drivers of use, and developing practical strategies to reduce harm and support behaviour change.

This training will equip AOD practitioners with the resources required to confidently deliver Choices. Participants will be introduced to the updated Choices Consumer Workbook, program structure, facilitation approach, and key content areas.

The training will be delivered in person and facilitated by the Choices Program Lead from Uniting.

Recommended
Participants must have completed a minimum Alcohol and Other Drugs Skill Set, or have at least six months of experience working in an AOD role. Participants who do not yet have this background are encouraged to contact audrey.daltonpower@vt.uniting.org to discuss suitable options.

• Please arrive at 9.15am for registration. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day, although unfortunately we are not able to provide food.

• Training will begin at 9.30am with a one-hour break for lunch, resuming until 4.30pm.

• Full completion of the training is required to facilitate the Choices program.
