Duration: 30 mins – 2 hrs | Grade: Easy / Family Friendly
Join us for a Junior Ranger family walk in Omahu Bush, led by Natasha S. McIntosh Predator Free Port Hills/Summit Road Society (PFPH/SRS) and Bill McSweeney, (SRS/Ranger of Omahu Bush).

We’ll walk together from the Gibraltar Rock car park to Gibraltar Rock: a short, rewarding forest walk suitable for younger walkers. Along the way, kids will learn about the ngahere, wildlife, and caring for this special place, using a Junior Ranger worksheet to guide observations and discoveries.

From Gibraltar Rock, families can choose their own adventure: return from here, or—if older kids are ready for more discovery along a more challenging track— explore the Stone Wall track with views across Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains and the mountains.

We will then loop back to the car park via Tōtara Grove where we will stop for a BYO morning tea among some of the most beautiful, and oldest, tōtara trees in the Port Hills.

A special badge will be presented to the littlies upon finishing their Junior Ranger worksheet!
