Chris Stout and Catriona McKay
Event description
Chris Stout and Catriona McKay
Chris Stout (fiddle) and Catriona McKay (harp) are an award winning duo who are both accomplished musicians, composers and performers. They have performed together on the world's biggest stages across folk, classical and world music genres.
We are delighted that, ahead of their performances at the Sydney Opera House and the National Folk Festival in Canberra, Chris & Catriona have agreed to a concert in Cobargo. Join us at this unique and intimate performance by two of the leading lights in Scottish contemporary folk music.
This award winning duo have taken these most traditional of Scottish instruments and catapulted them into the contemporary world of music making. A 30 year long telepathy sees this remarkable duo weave their way seamlessly between glorious soundscapes and music of breathtaking simplicity.
The intense and rugged coastal scenery and the dramatic seas that surround their respective origins in Fair Isle and Dundee are ever-present in this unique and treasured duo sound.
Virtuosic and cinematic, Chris and Catriona’s music charts a rhythmic and harmonic terrain that is all their own. The result is a dynamic and intrepidly adventurous sound that transcends genre yet remains immovably tethered to place.
‘Clear and strong…always a startling freshness and spontaneity at work…virtuosic and physically engaging’. ***** The Glasgow Herald
'Sonically exquisite’ The Guardian
