Chris James is a saxophonist in his third year of study in the Bachelor of Music at JMI. Surrounded by jazz music from the age of 13 he has been guided by peers, friends and mentors within Brisbane, New York and Japan’s jazz communities.
Piqued for years by the lyricism of Saxophone giant Sonny Stitt and awed by his mastery of various genres within the jazz idiom, Chris has curated some of Stitt’s finest recordings of ballads, blues and bop in order to share their melodies and stories.
