Christchurch City Antarctic Walk (2026)
Description
Ōtautahi-Christchurch has been described as the Cape Canaveral of Antarctic exploration.
The NZ Antarctic Society delivers this guided walk to showcase our city’s rich Antarctic heritage and highlights how we support scientific research being conducted by National Antarctic Programmes.
This walk starts outside Te Pae Convention Centre at 188 Oxford Tce and visits several Antarctic points of interest around the inner city.
Access: We'll be walking on footpaths so children, buggies and wheelchairs are welcome, as are dogs on leads.
Please join us and discover what makes Christchurch and the Port of Lyttelton our Antarctic Gateway City.
Check the NZ Antarctic Society website for weather postponement to the following day.
