Christmas Decoration Clay Workshop with Alison Lowe (Workshop Code ALXMS)
Event description
Adults & Teens – Christmas Decoration Clay Workshop
The silly season is nearly upon us! Would you love to be organized? Want to make some personalized Christmas gifts this year?
Then this workshop is for you!
It is Christmas themed, short and sweet, so you have a chance to make some tree pendants/decorations, a cone shaped Christmas tree or angel, even some Christmas bells! Come join Alison Lowe and a small friendly group of likeminded curious creators. This class is for total beginners and those who have tried clay before and want to learn some more.
Week 1 will introduce you to the intricacies of creating pieces with mid to high fired clay. You will learn the basic skills and the rudiments of hand-building using slab principles. Good preparation and understanding of clay will ensure your clay creations are made well. You will have the chance to add further colourful flair to your pieces using underglazes in week two. You will get to take your creations home once they have gone through the complexities of firing in a kiln. A clear glaze firing will be undertaken by the tutor. These will be dropped for collection at the Ōtorohanga Information Centre.
All materials are supplied. Remember clay can be dusty so dress accordingly.
This workshop is subsidized thanks to the generosity of our supporter so you only pay $90 per person (with a booking fee of $3).
Running Thursday 7th and 14th November, 6-7:30pm, this workshop will take place in the space behind the Ōtorohanga iSite (21 Maniapoto Street) Entrance to the workshop will be off Wahanui Crescent.
