Day 1 (LD): Arrive Brisbane (Saturday 23 December)

Welcome to our special “stay put” Brisbane Tour. This morning after we have loaded the coach we are ready to go. Sit back and enjoy the service and facilities aboard our Port Bus Touring Coach as we make our way north along the Pacific Highway on our way to Brisbane. We will stop at the South Grafton RSL Club before continuing to the Gold Coast and onto Brisbane. (Meal inclusions: Club lunch/Welcome dinner)

    Grand Chancellor 23 Leichardt St Brisbane – Tel 07 38314055 5 nights

Day 2 (BD): Brisbane/Lone Pine Sanctuary (Sun 24 December)

This morning we are booked at 10am with Mirimar Cruises for a morning tea cruise upstream on the Brisbane River to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is the world's first and largest koala sanctuary. We will enjoy the Platypus Show, see the Birds of Prey and the Sheep dog demonstration followed by our BBQ lunch. We cruise back to the city and transfer to the new Wheel of Brisbane, the giant observation wheel that offers a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view of the city. Unrivalled for its view, a ride on the Wheel of Brisbane is an uplifting experience that will take us almost 60m above the ground in the safety and comfort of a fully enclosed air conditioned capsule. (Meal inclusions: Breakfast & dinner in the hotel)

Day 3 (BLS): Xmas Day (Monday 25 December 2023)

Merry Christmas! Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a free morning around the hotel. Our Xmas lunch here in the hotel will be served at 13:00. Enjoy a relaxed afternoon and a light supper early evening. (Meal inclusions: Breakfast & supper in the hotel/Xmas Lunch)

Day 4 (BLD): Australia Zoo (Tuesday 26 December 2023)

We are off the Australia Zoo today. We all know the Irwin family and their vision to make the zoo the best wildlife conservation facility in the world. And they have done just that! The founder of course was the late Steve Irwin, the “Crocodile Hunter”. Australia Zoo has a reputation for conservation work, due mainly to the popularity of the documentary series “The Crocodile Hunter”. Many millions of dollars have been invested in the park so that it is an ever changing and growing attraction. We’ll arrive early enough to take a stroll, maybe to see the cheeky otters and their cute antics at their 10 o’clock feeding, or perhaps learn about the Galapagos Land Tortoises as they munch through their breakfast using serrated jaws. We can hand feed the elephants before taking our seats in the “Crocoseum” for all the action in the centre stage. First of all there’s “Snakes Alive”, followed by the free flying bird show. Watch as kookaburras, wedge-tail eagles, owls, falcons, and the beautiful South American Macaws free-fly around the Crocoseum. We can learn more about these magnificent birds as they swoop and soar right over our heads! Next – the Crocs! The keepers will bring them out into the clear water so we can see them as they would hunt in the wild…doing their best to get the “big piece of meat” (the croc team that is!). There are many other scheduled demonstrations during the day and the chance to be photographed with a giant python. A people mover is available to access the various parts of the park. (Meal inclusions: Breakfast & dinner in the hotel/Light lunch at Australia Zoo)

Day 5 (BS): Eumundi Markets/Mooloolaba (Wed 27 December)

Every Wednesday of the year the famous Eumundi Markets are open and that’s where we are heading today! The twice weekly street markets, held in the small village of Eumundi, are as popular with the locals as they are with visitors to the Sunshine Coast. Every Saturday and Wednesday, this sleepy town transforms into a vibrant mecca for shoppers looking for something different. We step into a world of original design of jewellery, homewares, clothing and sculptures. Take a break from shopping, grab yourself a gourmet delight and listen to one of the entertaining buskers. There’s certainly something to please everyone here! At nearby Mooloolaba the Christmas spirit comes alive! Every year, the waterfront properties create a wonderful light display that can only be seen from the water. We jump on-board our cruise to witness the incredible spectacle. Delicious food is available for purchase on the cruise. We then head back to Brisbane where a light supper will be waiting for us. (Meal inclusions: Full Breakfast/Supper in the hotel)

Day 6 (BL): Home via Ballina (Thursday 28 December 2023)

Time to start heading home. After checking out of the hotel we travel south to the Gold Coast and then onto Ballina for lunch at the RSL before returning to Port Macquarie by late afternoon. (Meal inclusions: Breakfast in the hotel/Club lunch)
