DAY 1 (MTLD) HOME TO RIVERWOOD DOWNS RESORT

Welcome to our Christmas in July tour. We make our way inland to the little hamlet of Hannam Vale, located in one of the most fertile and picturesque valleys on the mid North Coast of NSW. The valley is like a soft green velvet cloth, clad with peaceful grazing cows. Along the road, we go through tunnels of greenery and past waterlily-clad dams. We’ll also see the Hannam Vale Public School, built in 1892, and across the road is the old Hannam Vale Country Store, built in 1914. Both provide a great photo opportunity. Making our way to Moorland Cottage, once a bustling bakehouse and later transformed into a charming Devonshire tea house, this café, enveloped by picturesque gardens, provides the perfect setting for a delightful morning tea, known for its scones! We make our way to the banks of the beautiful Manning River, is the peaceful town of Cundletown is. It is laid out as an English village with squares and radiating roads. We visit the Cundletown Museum, where we’ll find the museum’s exhibits relating to the dairy industry. We have the opportunity to wander through the craft display before making our way to the Resort, which is actually a working cattle property. Riverwood Downs Mountain Valley Resort is located on the banks of a mountain river in the foothills of the Barrington Tops "World Heritage Wilderness". It is located in a beautiful rural area known as the "Monkeri Valley" between the towns of Stroud and Gloucester. Imagine a place where the mountain grandeur is so unspoiled that the air itself is almost blue, where adjacent rainforest surrounds you with the quiet secret magic that makes the expectation of mythical characters seem quite rational. The streams and waterfalls are so clear that the word crystal seems inadequate. The unique quality of this region is reflected in its listing as a World Heritage Area. DAY 2 (BMTLD) THE GOOD OLE DAYS

We have a full morning discovering the property. We are met by a local who will take us on a guided tour of the resort and gardens, telling stories and enjoying morning tea and lunch together. This afternoon, we can explore further or simply relax, enjoying the resort and the surroundings. Tonight, let’s get festive and put on our festive outfits and enjoy our Christmas in July dinner with all the trimmings.

DAY 3 (BLD) UPPER HUNTER

Thursday 09 July 2026

We meet a local guide who will join us today for some Upper Hunter sightseeing. Our first stop, Darley Stud, is a magnificent operation with animals and scenery that will be remembered. Darley (Woodlands) is owned by Sheik Mohammed from Dubai, the largest breeder of thoroughbreds in the world. We stop for lunch in Denman before visiting some local enterprises and enjoying a wine tasting. Returning to the resort with some free time before dinner.

DAY 4 (BMTL) RIVERWOOD DOWNS RESORT TO HOME

How relaxing has the time been in Riverwood Downs? Following a leisurely breakfast, we say farewell to our hosts and set our sights on home.  We begin our journey home, stopping just past Gloucester for a unique visit to Ashmar Farmstay. Set on a 500-acre Hereford Cattle stud farm with spectacular views across the property and beyond, it is the perfect place to enjoy a tour and lunch. Our afternoon drive takes us home, arriving in the mid-afternoon from a wonderful Christmas in July tour.
