Event description

Celebrate the joy of the festive season with an afternoon of soul, song and community on the lawns of Lanyon Homestead.

Led by the Amosa Family, acclaimed Canberra performers including Steve Amosa and his talented children Kirrah, Lahni, Mayah and Kofi. Be uplifted by their signature blend of harmony and heart at this festive outdoor concert. With decades of experience spanning national tours, orchestral collaborations and major events, their sound fills every space with warmth and connection.

Bring a picnic and picnic blanket, gather your loved ones and experience the magic of live music surrounded by the wide green paddocks and historic gardens of Lanyon Homestead. There will be free kids’ activities, face painting, family photos and food trucks.

Presented in partnership with The Giving Machine, this family-friendly event raises funds to support local families and communities throughout the year.

Gates open at 3:30pm, set up your picnic rug then:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Alcohol free event: No alcohol will be sold onsite, and BYO is not permitted.

Mobile reception & Wifi: As a rural property, there is limited mobile reception at Lanyon Homestead and sometimes the wi-fi can be unreliable. If you are meeting friends or family, pre-arrange your meeting spot (like the Homestead Cafe) before arriving.

Children: This is a family-friendly concert and we welcome children of all ages. BUT children must be supervised by their parents and carers. Please note that Lanyon Homestead is located by the Murrumbidgee River and we are surrounded by paddocks and open spaces with uneven ground, livestock and wildlife.

Weather: Please come prepared if there is light rain with raincoats and ponchos, and prepare for the season. There is limited shade, please bring a hat and sun protection. No umbrellas permitted to ensure the safety and viewing experience of all audience members. In the event of severe or dangerous weather the event will be cancelled.

Concert Seating: This is an unseated outdoor concert with limited shade. Bring a hat. Don’t forget to bring a picnic rug or low beach chair for seating. Please note that in order for everyone has a clear view, guests with chairs will be asked to sit toward the back. The concert area is slightly sloped and has uneven ground surfaces.

Food and drinks: Food trucks will be onsite, our guests are welcome to pack a picnic. Please note, this is an alcohol free event.

Smoking and Vaping: Smoking and/or vaping is NOT permitted at Lanyon Homestead.

Getting here by car: Free car parking is available onsite. The driveway entrance is on Tharwa Drive, approximately 250m south of Banks. The driveway is unsealed and limited to 40km/hr. Please reduce your speed around other vehicles, people and livestock.

Getting here by public transport: There is no direct public transport to Lanyon Homestead. Public buses go to Lanyon Marketplace in Calwell. You can then catch a taxi or Uber to Lanyon Homestead. For bus timetables, go to

Need a ride? Visitors with low mobility can ride in the people-mover from the carpark to the Homestead and Cafe. There is a radio at the carpark that connects you with our Museums Shop and Reception. Or speak to one of our friendly staff.

Leave only footsteps & take your rubbish home: ACT City Services doesn't make it to Lanyon Homestead. This means all rubbish has to be especially trucked out. Help reduce the environmental impact of the event by taking you rubbish home. 

Help look after our site: Lanyon Homestead is a heritage site. Please be mindful of historic plantings, gardens and buildings. Take care when walking through the property as there are uneven surfaces in the gardens, paths and homestead.

Pets and Service Dogs: Please note that no pets, with the exception of special service dogs (ie guide dogs), are permitted on site at Lanyon Homestead. The property includes paddocks with livestock and is surrounded by working farms.
