    Event description

The Church Basement Ladies are back!!!
Yes! We have another round of comedy, song, and occasional serious moments with those wonderful women of the kitchen below the sanctuary. The classically Minnesotan, classically Lutheran CBL productions are inspired by the books of Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson, authors of the best- seller “Growing Up Lutheran”. Church Basement Ladies, The Last (Potluck) Supper is written by Greta Grosch, with music and lyrics by Drew Jansen, and additional contributions by Mark Brodin.

The year is 1979: The church is celebrating its centennial with a reunion on the lawn and Pastor returns for the celebration. Karin, now the President of the Church Council, makes the difficult decision they must close the church.  Beverly now has 4 children.
If you missed our first couple of renditions of the Church Basement Ladies, don't worry! There are plenty of flashbacks during the show to give you some idea of what has transpired over a 15-year interval. And for a little background into our four women of various ages and personalities, here is the synopsis of the first show in the series:
1964-1968: (Beverly) Signe is away at the U in the Cities; Mavis is in menopause, and the Pastor has a “new” wife. The church hosts a Lutefisk dinner, a funeral, and a Hawaiian furnace fundraiser. Eventually Vivian hands over the kitchen to Karin (Signe's mother) by ceremoniously giving her a dishtowel. Signe gets married to Harry Hauge at the end of the play.
