Church Sound: Essentials - 8th May & 22nd May 2024

Turramurra Music's Church Sound Essentials program is designed to equip and support sound operators serving in local churches. Delivered over two nights, it is a practical and hands on course delivered by Turramurra Music's team of church specialists. It covers the key concepts of creating great sound within a church context, and provides an in-depth and practical overview of the fundamental tools for creating a good mix.

Church Sound: Essentials - Program info:

  • Dates: Wednesday 8th May and Wednesday 22nd May 2024 (this is a two-part course, attendees must attend both sessions)
  • Time & Location: 6.00pm - 8.45pm at Turramurra Music - 1267 Pacific Hwy, Turramurra (please enter at the rear of the building, via Gilroy Lane as the front door will be locked by this time)
  • Cost: $80 per person ($40 per session) - this helps cover course materials, setup & equipment costs and staffing costs of our trainers. If cost is an issue for you or your church please contact us to discuss options.

Note: we will send you a brief survey prior to the course, as well as a small amount of mandatory pre-reading material.

Who is this for?

This course is aimed at church sound team members currently serving at their churches who are looking to develop their mixing skills further, as well as experienced operators wanting a refresher on the essential elements of mixing live sound. The course assumes that you have a basic working knowledge of sound and have used a mixing desk before. Note: Participants of all skill levels are welcome, but if you have never mixed sound before and are starting out from scratch we would recommend undertaking an introductory course instead. If you're not sure if this course is suitable for you please contact us.

What does the course involve?

Held in store at Turramurra Music, each session involves our Church Team facilitators presenting on course concepts in a small group format with plenty of time for questions. Each pair of participants will then have access to their own digital mixing desk set up with audio to complete tasks to reinforce the concepts and practice new skills along with support and coaching from our facilitators. The course also includes pre-reading materials, course handouts, as well as a pre and post training survey, and digital course materials including multitrack audio files and instructions to allow you to practice mixing on your digital mixer at church.

Church Sound: Essentials topics include:

  • Introduction to church sound concepts and fundamentals
  • Mixing fundamentals (Gain, EQ, Panning)
  • Dynamics & Effects (Compression, Gate, FX)
  • Broadcast / live stream and monitor mixing tips and tricks

We are very excited to host this training program and to be playing our small part in helping to equip you in serving your local church. If you have any questions or have any other church related inquiries please contact our church team. Email: church@turramusic.com.au
