About the film
We’ll Be Singing by September
Chilean Music in Times of Revolution
A Documentary on Nueva Canción by Nano Stern and Luis Emilio Briceño. (90mins)
We’ll be Singing by September is a feature documentary exploring the rise of resistance music in Chile in the 70’s, sparking a renewal in traditional folk music and playing a key role in social & political movements in the region. Featuring rare footage of performances by Victor Jara, the film tells the story of a time in which tradition, innovation, psychodelia, Andean roots and revolution gave birth to the most celebrated chapter in the history of Chilean Music: the Nueva Canción Chilena.
