As his journey takes him from the Philippines to Europe, the fantasy begins to crack. What starts as a dream of modernity becomes a sharp, playful critique of colonial desire, capitalism, and the myths empires sell.

Released in 1977, Perfumed Nightmare is a landmark of Philippine independent cinema and winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the Berlin Film Festival.
