Event description

In Marty’s Creative Drama class, four lost New Englanders experiment with theater games as they try to find meaning in their lives. Over the course of six weeks, hearts are quietly torn apart and tiny wars of epic proportions are waged and won in this hilarious and poignant story.

Written by Annie Baker, Circle Mirror Transformation is one of the defining plays of the American theater in the 21st century. This production is staged by counter/current:collective, an innovative company based in Belfast, ME that stages contemporary theatrical productions in immersive settings. Their production of Circle Mirror Transformation ran at the Waldo County YMCA to sold-out houses in the spring of 2025.

Don't miss this funny and beautifully acted production by one of Maine's most exciting new companies. To preserve the intimate feel of the production, tickets are strictly limited.

ABOUT COUNTER/CURRENT:COLLECTIVE

Founded in Belfast in 2024, counter/current:collective, creates adventurous, thought-provoking theatre productions and collaborative happenings that inspire conversation and create space for transformation. We build resilience in our Midcoast Maine community by broadening awareness, encouraging connection, and cultivating joy. We endeavor to conjure brave spaces where we can take creative risks with each other and revel in cool, weird, occasionally uncomfortable - but always captivating - experiences together. And then talk about it. Preferably over tea.
