Market Makers Series: Circular Arts

Price $90 AUD + BF Get tickets

Event description

Led by the adventuring maker Marty Gordon, and some of his maker-friends, this 3-hour workshop is designed to get you ready to get into circular creativity. In this workshop you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Make your own pouch or wallet – using what's about - think tetra packs and cereal boxes
  • Make and decorate your own circular sketchbook – with upcycled paper and art materials from Green Collect’s circular hub
  • Make your own print – you’ll have a choice of making a print from handmade stamps, or using a novel printmaking process to make your own etching (using upcycled Tetrapaks instead of metal plates for drawings, and a hand-cranked pasta maker instead of a printing press)

You’ll also get to sample some of the delicious new circular snacks created by Chef Chris Locke being made in the new Moving Feast Kitchen at the Purpose Precinct at Queen Victoria Market.

Part of the Purpose Precinct's Market Maker masterclass series.

The Purpose Precinct is Australia's only social enterprise marketplace, supporting social enterprises to thrive. Is it supported by the Victorian Government, Social Enterprise Network Victoria and is led by founding partners STREAT and Good Cycles with delivery partner Green Collect

About Marty:

Marty comes to us as a resourceful practical designer who has been re-using, re-purposing, modifying and making for over 30 years. His diverse skills were spotted by the then Crumpler creator Stuart Crumpler, when both met on a chance encounter riding mountain bikes outside of Ballarat, and the pair were soon designing a new range of products for the iconic bag company. The diverse range of creative skills have seen Marty work as a graphic, product, interior designer, signage fabricator as well as designing and making his own bags, backpacks, tents and bicycle luggage. His resourcefulness and practical mind have enabled him to work in a vast array of environments problem solving along the way. Fixing and improvising with what he has attests this as you will see in this masterclass.
