Circular by Nature Report Launch
Description
Thursday 1 October | 7.30am–10.30am | Te Pūtahi Tangata (Building 201), 10 SYMONDS Street, Room 440 (on street level with Symonds St)
New Zealand has what it takes to be a prosperous and resilient nation.
We have the resources, the people, the innovative mindset, and the care for place that most countries can only aspire to. But right now, we are leaving an extraordinary amount of unrealised value on the table.
We cannot afford to, and nor should we want to, be a nation that wastes its resources. Our communities, businesses, and environments that depend on our food, land, and materials are bearing the cost of linear, take-make-waste systems in the form of waste, productivity loss, inequity, insecurity, disconnection and environmental harm. These are systemic challenges that require a systemic shift to a fundamentally different way of accessing, restoring and realising the value of resources.
At a time when productivity and the cost of living dominate every conversation, we explore how we can create a values shift towards a circular future for Aotearoa, New Zealand.
This is the launch of Circular by Nature - a white paper that translates a decade of New Zealand research, case studies, and practice into plain language, through the lens of everyday life: how we live, how we eat, and how we move in a circular Aotearoa. We are sharing for the first time the three decisions we believe would turn existing momentum into a national system for economic transformation.
Hosted as a relaxed breakfast event at the University of Auckland, the morning will create space for kōrero with key stakeholders, partners and people working across business, industry policy, research, design and systems change.
We will be sharing:
Why now ? The importance of retaining value in our households, businesses, and economy every day
Unlocking our potential - How we live, eat and move in a circular Aotearoa, New Zealand.
What will it take? Key recommendations that will take us forward.
The invitation - be part of the inaugural circular economy roundtable and industry taskforces
The launch is supported by our partners Clare Foundation, Hula Design, Kantar and CEBUS at the University of Auckland.
Together, we’ll explore what it will take to move circularity from ambition into action — and how this work can support more strategic, coordinated and practical progress across Aotearoa.
