Circular Design Masterclass for Designers | Sustainability Victoria

Increase your design for sustainability capability and critically expand your practice.  

Join us to support Victoria's transition to a circular economy.  

RMIT on behalf of Sustainability Victoria and Creative Victoria present the Circular Economy Design Masterclass series.  The Masterclasses have been created to equip design practitioners with the mindset, skills and capabilities to apply design for sustainability methods to their work to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. 

The Masterclasses are highly interactive and co-designed with experts from RMIT, Sustainability Victoria and Circular Economy Victoria, as well as input from representative design practitioners.  

Thanks to the co-design process, this content is made with you, for you. The Design Masterclass is a specialised, peer-reviewed course that targets common barriers and enablers designers face when exploring and then implementing circular practices.  

• Targeted participants: this specialised course is open to Victorian-based industrial designers, design and product development managers. You will have access to a dedicated cohort of local designers undertaking a circular economy learning journey together. 
• Industry agnostic: We invite you to register regardless of the industry you work in and ask you to have an open mind about the role the circular economy can play when paired with the learnings of the Masterclass. 
• Format: Half-day session, with hybrid workshop delivery. The Masterclasses will be delivered both online, and in-person at the Sustainability Victoria offices in the Melbourne CBD. We suggest you attend in person if you can make it.  
• Outcomes: On completion of the Design Masterclass, you'll have an increased understanding of design for circularity concepts, processes, and narratives, as well as a systems view of circular economy design mindsets and values. We'll cover inputs, production, use and re-circulation. The learnings will be supplemented by real-world local and international case studies, expert facilitation and the opportunity to share your experience with fellow designers, including a follow-up session.
