    Event description

The Melbourne Walking Club invites you to join them on a West Breen & Moonee Ponds Creeks Loop walk from Oak Park Station.  This walk is part of the Try Bushwalking Month, celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Bushwalking Victoria, the peak body representing 60+ bushwalking clubs across Victoria.

From Oak Park station, we shall do a circular walk using the West Breen and Moonee Ponds Creeks.  It is a flat walk apart from the last kilometre, where we have a medium climb to the station. The climb can be avoided by using the local bus service.

    DISTANCE:  10 km

WHO IS THIS WALK FOR?  This walk is suited to those who would like an easy urban walk with one medium hill which can be avoided if needed.  Ideal for a new, less fit, or more mature walker.

CHILDREN AND PETS:  This walk is for adults 18 years and over, and due to the nature of the walk, we ask you to leave dogs and other pets at home.  Please contact the club directly to inquire about service animals, and any family or pet friendly walks.

AWT GRADE 2 (Easy):  AWT Grade information.

PACE: The walk will be at a gentle pace with regular stops.

TOTAL ASCENT:  There is only one climb, which is over the last kilometre, with some short steep sections.

    WALK DESCRIPTION:

This is a pleasant urban circular walk with very little street walking, following the West Breen Creek and the Moonee Ponds Creek trails. The walk is on well-maintained concrete paths except for approximately 0.75 km after lunch, which is on an unmade trail which could be muddy and slippery if wet. Participants will need to provide and carry their own morning tea, lunch and drinks.  Route map:  Komoot.

MEETING POINT: We shall meet outside the North (platform 1) side of Oak Park station at 9.45 am. Coffee is available at local cafes.

DIRECTIONS: The best means of travel to the rendezvous is by the Met Rail service.  The recommended train is the Craigieburn train leaving Flinders Street at 9.16 am arriving Oak Park at 9.42 am. Google map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/phi89c...

    PHONE SIGNAL:  Available all day.
