Midwinter.

A room full of smoke, light and strange sounds.The audience embarks on a darkly immersive night of circus, brimming with unbridled mayhem, strange deeds and incredible acts.

A new tradition in the Brisbane performing arts calendar, Circus Obscura from Circa Academy's Performance program, will be an annual event bringing dark, playful and mysterious flavours to a venue each winter solstice.

Circa Academy offers exceptional training programs with one of the world’s leading circus companies.

Spanning from early childhood play to pre-professional development, our programs build physical and creative skills in a safe, non-competitive environment with some of Australia’s best trainers.

By asking “what is possible in circus?” Circa has created a suite of award-winning productions seen by over 2 million people across over 45 countries. We bring this curiosity, expertise and daredevilry to Circa Academy – making circus experiences available to everyone.

Circa Academy is based at the home of Circa in the Judith Wright Centre and at Brisbane Powerhouse. We also host classes and workshops on the road and in the community.
