TERM 1 CLASSES 2024

ALL class participants need to have purchased their annual membership (only $20.00) to attend class. The membership fee ensures you are covered by our insurance.

 WHAT'S ON? 

 MONDAY CLASS 

Intermediate/Advanced Aerials - Lyra & Trapeze 
Mondays 5th February – 15th April inclusive (7 weeks*)
*Monday 1st April Public Holiday (no classes)
*Mondays 19th February and 4th March (no classes)
6:30pm - 8:30pm

$200 Full / $180 Concession

In this class, we will develop our bar skills on the trapeze and lyra, working on transitions and building sequences, in addition to learning new and advanced skills.

Pre-reqs: Consistent technique across basic skills (sit, stand), confidence on the ropes, a repertoire of basic skills, and can build own basic sequence, pull to front support, and splits under the bar.

  • Lyra – straddle over (bent arm), active knee hang 10 sec, top bar knee hang. Coming to sit with good technique. Baseline skills include: star, gazelle, mermaid, and front balance.
  • Trapeze – includes coming to sit and stand with good technique, and a routine of 5-7 skills. Trapeze skills include monkey roll, clix, rolls to sit and stand, dismounts


 TUESDAY CLASS 

Beginners Aerials - Mixed Apparatus (Silks, Lyra, Trapeze)
Tuesdays 6th February – 9th April inclusive (10 weeks)
6:45pm - 8:45pm

For beginners and those who are interested in revisiting the fundamentals. This 10-week block will cover basic skills for aerial silks, lyra and trapeze, including beginner tricks, climbing, inversions, correct technique and building strength and flexibility.

Pre-reqs:
No pre-reqs. For aerialists with limited experience or for those returning after a break who want to revisit beginner skills. Examples of skills taught include French and Russian climb, straddling over from the crash mat and in the air, footlock, hiplock, and skills and sequences in the knot. On trapeze, we’ll cover coming to sit and stand with good technique, and skills like crescent moon, birds nest, gazelle and mermaid.

 WEDNESDAY CLASS 

Circus Stretch & Flex
Wednesdays 7th February – 10th April inclusive (10 weeks) 
6:30pm - 8:00pm

Yoga with a circus flair! A mid-week opportunity to move, stretch, release, and relax! Whether you have goals to improve your splits or backbend or get a little mojo after sitting in a chair all day, this class is for everyone - all fitness and ability levels welcome!




 THURSDAY CLASSES 

Intermediate/Advanced Aerials - Silks
Thursdays 8th February – 11th April inclusive (10 weeks)

In this class, we’ll learn new skills and transitions, construct sequences and routines. This class is for aerialists who want to expand their skill set while building strength and endurance.

Pre-reqs: Bent arm hang, straddle over hold (from the ground, and ideally from a climb), climb to the top of silks, footlock. Hiplock from a climb (any technique). Stamina and fitness to begin working on sequences and routine building. A wide range of skills on silks. Strong body awareness and knowledge of own limitations and strengths.



Acquired Taste Choir
2nd & 4th Thursdays of the Month
Dates: 8th February, 22nd February, 14th March, 28th March & 11th April

6:00pm - 7:30pm

LOCATION: Coniston Community Centre

A community social choir with a unique circus edge! Join us in vocal experimentation, percussive exploration, and the joy of connection, as we create our own renditions of our favourite songs. No audition is required.


 FRIDAY CLASS 

Doubles Trapeze
Fridays: 9th Febraury, 23rd February, 8th March, 22nd March
 (4 weeks – every 2nd Friday)
6:30pm - 8:30pm

For anyone who wants to learn how to play on the trapeze with a friend! This 4-week workshop will develop and build skills specifically for two-person aerial play! Bring a friend if you like, but it’s certainly not mandatory!

Pre-reqs: Consistent technique across basic skills (sit, stand), confidence on the ropes, and repertoire of basic skills will all make this class more fun!



 SUNDAY AFTERNOONS 

Aerial Fit
Sundays 4th February, 11th February, 18th February, 25th February, 3rd March (5-week block)
4:00pm - 5:30pm

A playful class to build strength on the ground an in the air. We will use ground-based activities and aerial movements to improve general strength and fitness. Newbies and all levels welcome!

Aerial Foundations
Sundays 10th March, 17th March, 24th March, 7th April, 14th April (5-week block)
4:00pm - 5:30pm
Trainer: Ali Kimbrough
$120 Full / $105 Concession

This class is for those who are brand new to aerials. These 1.5 classes will cover foundational skills to help you get in the air and learning beginner tricks on silks, trapeze, and lyra. We will spend time gradually building strength and flexibility on the ground and in the air.

Please note:

  1. Casual class tickets will no longer be offered for aerials given the administrative workload associated. They are still available for choir and adagio. We have offered make-up classes during COVID to support members to stay away if unwell. Make-up classes or refunds will not be offered for missed classes.

 NEW TO CIRCUS WOW?  Welcome! Circus WOW is a membership-based community group for women 18+. An Annual Membership Fee of $20.00 is required for participation in all classes and workshops. Please purchase a $20.00 Circus WOW 2023 Annual Membership ticket in addition to your class booking(s). Please also complete this consent and medical screening form HERE before classes start.

 EMERGENCY CONTACT:   Required when booking a class. We have seen medical emergencies occur in both physical and not-so-physical classes.  An emergency contact helps your trainer to support you in the unlikely event that a medical emergency occurs.
