MONDAY CLASS

Beginners Aerials - Silks
Mondays 24th April - 22nd May inclusive (5 weeks)

Beginners Aerials - Trapeze
Mondays 29th May - 26th June inclusive (5 weeks - Public Holiday Mon 12th June - Class will proceed as normal)

For brand newbies and those who are interested in revisiting the fundamentals. This 5 week block will cover the basics of aerial silks and trapeze, including climbing, inversions, correct technique and building strength and flexibility.

Beginners pre-reqs:
For newbies to the world of aerials, or for those returning after a break who want to revisit fundamental skills. No fitness or skills pre-requisites. Examples of skills taught include French and Russian climb, straddling over from the crash mat and in the air, foot lock, and skills and sequences in the knot. On trapeze, we’ll cover coming to sit and stand with good technique, and skills like crescent moon, birds’ nest, gazelle and mermaid.

Intermediate Aerials - Silks

Intermediate Aerials - Trapeze

Focus on pre-performance conditioning and aerial skills. Intermediate: for those who have mastered the skills in the beginners class and are ready for more!!!

Intermediate pre-reqs:

Silks - bent arm hang, straddle over hold (from the ground, and ideally but not essentially from a climb), climb to the top of silks, footlock. Skills taught at the intermediate level include; basic drops on silks (chair drop, catchers, 360 etc), belays, tissu sequences.
Trapeze - include come to sit and stand with good technique, and a routine of 5-7 skills. Trapeze skills include monkey roll, clix, rolls to sit and stand, dismounts. Lyra is also introduced at this level.

WEDNESDAY CLASS

Intermediate Adagio
Wednesdays 26th April - 28th June inclusive (10 weeks)

Otherwise known as the fine art of standing on your friend…. Acrobalance is the circus art of creating partner balances and acrobatic skills with two or more people.

THURSDAY CLASSES

Advanced Aerials
Thursdays 27th April - 29th June inclusive (10 weeks)

In this class, we’ll play with building aerial sequences (learning tricks and linking them together). We will build strength, endurance, and sequences on each apparatus (silks, trapeze).

Advance pre-reqs:
Confident and consistent straddle over from a climb on silks. Hip lock from a climb (any technique). Stamina and fitness to begin working on sequences and routine building. A wide range of skills on both trapeze and silks. Strong body awareness of own limitations and strengths.

Acquired Taste Choir
2nd & 4th Thursdays of the Month

A community social choir with a unique circus edge! Join us in vocal experimentation, percussive exploration, and the joy of connection, as we create our own renditions of our favourite songs. No audition is required.

FRIDAY CLASSS

Aerial Conditioning & Technique: Fortnightly Series
Fridays 21st April, 5th May and 19th May (3 weeks)
5:30pm - 7:00pm

Term 2 filled up quickly! For anyone who missed out or would like to build up strength and refine technique, this series is for you! Open to all levels, these classes will focus on aerial strength, flexibility, and foundational techniques. Drills will be targeted and progressive both in the air and on the ground.

Come and play on the gear, practice what you’ve been learning in classes. This is a space for self-directed practice without a trainer. Please be mindful to work within your competency in this space!

NEW TO CIRCUS WOW? Welcome! Circus WOW is a membership-based community group for women 18+. An Annual Membership Fee of $20.00 is required for participation in all classes and workshops. Please purchase a $20.00 Circus WOW 2023 Annual Membership ticket in addition to your class booking(s). Please also complete this consent and medical screening form HERE before classes start.

EMERGENCY CONTACT: Required when booking a class. We have seen medical emergencies occur in both physical and not-so-physical classes. An emergency contact helps your trainer to support you in the unlikely event that a medical emergency occurs.
