Description

Discover how local PhD research and community volunteers are working together to better understand and protect the South-Western Snake-Necked Turtle.

Since 2022, dedicated Turtle Tracker volunteers within the City of Bayswater have been keeping a watchful eye out for turtles, protecting and monitoring nests and collecting valuable observations as part of the Saving Our Snake-Necked Turtle Project. This important citizen science data is helping to support research being undertaken by the team at Murdoch University.

Come along to learn how community involvement and local research are working hand-in-hand to support the conservation of the South-Western Snake-Necked Turtle — and discover how you can contribute to citizen science in your local area.

The SOSNT project, supported by the City of Bayswater, is a partnership between the Harry Butler Institute, Murdoch University, NatureLink Perth, 1 Million Turtles, the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, and WA Wildlife.

This event is being presented in partnership with the City of Bayswater and Enviro House.
