Camino Ready #2 — 22 km Coastal Walk

Riverland Bar → Sandringham

Come walk Melbourne from the city all the way to the sea.

We’ll meet at Riverland Bar on the Yarra River, close to Flinders Street Station, then head west along the river before making our way towards the bay and following Melbourne’s beautiful coastline south.

Over approximately 22 kilometres, we’ll walk through:

📍 Brighton Beach & the Bathing Boxes
📍 Hampton
📍 Sandringham

We’ll finish at Sandringham Station, where you can simply jump on the train back towards the city.

No car shuffling. No returning to the starting point. Just one long walk from city to sea.

Meet from: 8:15 am
Walk departs: 8:30 am sharp
Expected finish: approximately 3:30–4:00 pm

Please arrive with enough time to find the group before we head off.

CAMINO READY

This is the second walk in our Camino Ready series — designed for anyone preparing for a Camino, multi-day walk, hiking holiday or simply wanting to build their walking fitness and confidence.

Our first walk was 20 km.

This time, we’re nudging the distance up to approximately 22 km.

The route is predominantly flat and non-technical, making it perfect for practising:

🎒 Carrying your day pack
💧 Hydration and fuelling
👟 Testing footwear and gear
🚶 Finding a sustainable walking pace
🤝 Meeting other people who love walking and adventure

You absolutely do not need to be walking the Camino to join us.

If you simply want a brilliant Saturday walking across Melbourne with a lovely group of people, you're very welcome.

Difficulty: Moderate — primarily due to distance
Terrain: Mostly paved/shared coastal paths with some beachside and park sections

Transport: Excellent public transport access at both ends

We’ll take breaks along the way and have time for food and rest stops during the walk.

Please bring comfortable walking shoes, water, sun protection, snacks/lunch and a small day pack.

This isn't about racing.

We'll settle into a comfortable pace, enjoy the coastline, talk, laugh, meet new people and see just how far our feet can take us.
