Price $120 AUD + BF Get tickets

Event description

Want to learn about clay but don't know where to start? Join our Clay Odyssey Workshop where you will gain skills in pottery hand building as an introduction to clay and its many uses.

First, we take you on a journey through the history of clay, revealing the first clay creations in ancient cave dwellings to more contemporary uses developed during the industrial revolution. You will learn the fundamental techniques of working with clay and get newfound confidence and skills to pursue your own clay endeavours.

The fun and therapeutic experience of working with clay by hand is a great way to let go of the everyday stresses of life and reconnect with earth. At the end of the workshop you will have up to three pieces created and ready to be fired.

You will learn:

  • The history of clay
  • How to work with clay to produce shapes
  • The process of clay forming and applying basic decorations
  • How to make pinch pots, coil pots and slab building
  • How to add an icon of your choice to your creation (frogs, fish, seahorse, elephant, buddha and more).

What to bring:

  • This workshop includes all tools and equipment
  • Be sure to wear clothes that can get dirty, and wear closed-in shoes
  • Your camera, so you can take progress photos of your work
  • Light refreshments (if attending alone or in a small group)

We include:

  • Expert tuition and design advice
  • Studio space
  • All materials and tools
  • Firing up to three pieces

We will contact you once your creations have been fired. Allow up to 4-6 weeks for firing process.

Enjoy wood-fired pizzas on the house for groups of 8 plus.
