Clayscapes - Pottery Workshop Series
Event description
Journey through the Great Southern Region from the depths of her oceans to the tips of her mountains. Exploring and celebrating this region's natural wonders through the medium of ceramics. Each week will focus on a different natural theme to spark inspiration and wonder for the natural world.
This workshop series is for all skill levels - whether you are completely new to pottery or a seasoned potter who, like us, just needs to carve out some time for creativity. This workshop will focus predominately on hand building ceramic techniques.
Sunday mornings 9am-12pm
Located at the stunning Torbay Hall on Menang Boodja, this 5-week workshop series will incorporate a variety of different pottery techniques with guidance from The Village facilitators. Participants will be encouraged to explore their creativity with significant flexibility in the workshop series.
Week 1: Coastlines (3 November 2024)
Week 2: Forests (10 November 2024)
Week 3: Wetlands and Rivers (17 November 2024)
Week 4: Mountains (24 November 2024)
— 1 week gap for firing —
Week 5: Celebration (8 December 2024)
Cost for the workshop series includes all material costs, glazing and firing. Refreshments and light snacks provided during workshops.
The week 5 celebration will be a time for workshop alumni to come back together to pick up their finished pieces and enjoy some morning tea together (hopefully using some of the finished pottery).
This workshop is inspired by and celebrates Menang, Goreng and Bibbulmun Noongar Boodja, which has been cared for by its Traditional Custodians for tens of thousands of years. We pay our respect to elders past, present and emerging. Always was, always will be.
