The Community of North Sydney has called for strong #climateaction, but what does it mean to reduce emissions to #NetZero?

Join us on Sunday 2nd April at #NorthSydney’s first ever Clean Energy Community Fair: Powering North Sydney to Net Zero, to hear from local and industry experts as we analyse where North Sydney’s emissions come from and explore the technologies, products and lifestyle changes needed to reduce our individual impact and collectively respond to the climate emergency. You will also learn how to save money in your homes and vehicles.

This family friendly #event will be held at Norths, Cammeray from 10am to 3pm* and is coordinated by our local Federal MP Kylea Tink in collaboration with the Smart Energy Council, and local mayors from Hunters Hill, Lane Cove, North Sydney and Willoughby City.

We will showcase local businesses and #community groups and provide an Electric Vehicle display (99 Bikes, Fonz Moto and EV car owners to answer your questions). Food will be available via Norths cafe and we will also have hot water heat pumps and all things solar. Kids activities will include face painting and learning to juggle!

Throughout the day, dynamic panel discussions will be hosted, giving insight into some of the best ways for #households to accelerate the transition to net zero.

We will be showcasing local businesses and community groups who will be presenting at a number of stalls to help inform local residents of existing innovations and actions that can help us to get North Sydney to net zero. All four of the local councils across the region will be there to tell you about their programs and we will also have local residents to share their stories of electrifying their homes and vehicles.

Kylea Tink

Kylea Tink is the Independent Federal Member for North Sydney. She wants to see urgent climate action led by facts. She supports active collaboration with local councils and state governments, making the federal seat of North Sydney a fully electrified community as quickly as possible (target date 2035). This will make North Sydney one of the first Net Zero Urban Energy Zones in Australia.

Hunters Hill Council

Hunter’s Hill Council is committed to preserving and maintaining the unique natural environment and heritage of its local area. In February 2020 Hunters Hill Council adopted the declaration of a climate emergency in association with its actions for climate change. For several decades Hunters Hill has shown purpose and leadership on sustainability and environmental issues.

Lane Cove Council

Lane Cove Council has set ambitious emissions reduction and water use targets for both Council and the community. We acknowledge that we are in a state of climate emergency and have developed a suite of programs and initiatives to work with our community and take the urgent action required.

North Sydney Council

North Sydney Council is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions as part of its operations and in the North Sydney community. Ambitious targets set in our Environmental Sustainability Strategy 2030 direct Councils energy, waste and transport programs that assist us in working towards net zero.

Willoughby City Council

Willoughby City Council joined many other councils declaring a climate emergency in late 2019. Our Green City Plan 2028 outlines our targets and priorities in reducing our emissions and encouraging sustainable lifestyles and practices in the community

How to get there:

Public Transport
St. Leonards is the nearest train station, Bus Routes 202, 204, 206, 206 & 207 from the City.

Parking
If you are riding your push bike to the venue there will be space for you to park your bike in the Norths carpark.

Norths has car spaces located at the front entry at 12 Abbott Street, Cammeray as well as a multi-level carpark that can be accessed via Palmer Street and a second outdoor car park is also available in West Street.

For wheelchair access from the carpark, please park at the front entrance carpark in Abbott Street or on level 4 (rooftop) of the multi-level carpark on Palmer Street. The other levels of the multi-level carpark only have stair access into Norths.
