Taking climate and nature action can help your organisation save money in the longer term but sometimes there are upfront costs.

Whether you are applying to external funders or making a case to your board for budget, we all have responsibility to make sure money is spent well. Writing a clear and strong bid will lead to more important and impactful projects.

Join us to find out how to stand out from the crowd and get your funding applications noticed and approved.

We’ll explore:

• Designing a funding ready project.

• Common funding application mistakes and how to address them.

• Practical tips for strengthening climate funding applications or business cases for organisations of different sizes and sectors.

• Overview of the current funding landscape for climate and nature projects.

There will also be an opportunity to connect and share insights with others working in this space.

About our speaker: Ruth Gerrard

Ruth Gerrard is a freelance Project Development & Funding Consultant, specialising in climate, local energy and nature recovery projects. She has 20 years of experience within the environmental sector, including 17 years in specialist development and bid writing roles. Ruth has raised millions of pounds across many key funders for this sector. Her regular clients include the Net Zero Hubs and Wildlife Trusts. Ruth previously worked as a Senior Development Manager at the Centre for Sustainable Energy and regional Development Manager at The Conservation Volunteers. She has designed several grant application processes, including the Community Energy Fund (now the Great British Energy Community Fund), and was a grants panel member for Scottish & Southern Energy Network’s Resilient Communities Fund. Ruth is an Advisory Board member and former trustee of Carbon Copy.
