Event description
Join us to celebrate the exciting Climate and Disability projects connected to the Community Climate Action Project and our partners.
The showcase will cover:
The launch of the updated community climate action plan by and for Disabled people,
The launch of the Crip Up Climate Conversation guides. Created by Sensing Climate in collaboration with the Community Climate Action Project.
Launch of the Inclusive Transport Toolkit.
Launch of Ruth Nortey’s disability, race and climate change podcast and zine.
Learn about the Centre for Sustainable Energy’s climate and disability research.
Learn about Redcatch Community Garden’s growing and cookery work with Disabled people.
The showcase is hybrid (online and in person). Please sign up using the booking form and indicate if you would like to join in person or online.
After the showcase, the celebration will continue with the Partnership’s monthly Green Mingle. This is a networking event for individuals and organisations to connect, share ideas, and learn. Presenters from the showcase will have stalls so you can talk and learn more. The Green Mingle is in person only. Book a place for the Green Mingle.
The event is free but please book a space. Free light vegan refreshments will be on offer for both events.
There will be photographs of the event. These may be used for promotional purposes. You may be left out of photographs by speaking with staff on the day. More information.
Bookings will close on 18 September so we have time to meet attendees access needs.
Accessibility
The showcase is hybrid (online and in person). There will be BSL interpreters. The venue is step-free. There is an accessible loo.

Jargon buster
Climate change: The planet is getting too hot because of how people are using fuels like petrol. This is leading to lots of problems locally and around the world.
Community climate action plans: These are plans that communities make on what they can do to be better for the planet, nature and people.
Hybrid: When a meeting can be joined either online or in person.
Networking: When people can go talk to different people in a room to connect in ways that might be useful for their work.
Promotional purposes: Used on things like social media or posters about the project.
Toolkit: A type of guide that people can use to help them do something.
