    Event description

Eco-distress is a normal and appropriate response to the climate crisis. But how do we deal with our feelings of grief, anger and fear? Go Beyond Gas, a local initiative that runs campaigns against gas industry expansion in WA, is hosting this open mic event to help ease eco-distress and make space for connection and positivity during this time of fear and uncertainty.

The night will begin with a brief introduction to Go Beyond Gas with time for questions. Then we have guest speaker, Annolies Truman, professional counsellor and educator, who will facilitate a reflective segment, allowing us to acknowledge concerns and emotions in a non-judgemental, collaborative environment, and address them through creative writing to discover/reinforce realistic hope and meaningful action.

Following the reflective segment will be an open mic with an amp and microphone available. Music, poetry, artwork and creative expression of all genres are welcome. Your words don't need to be climate-themed. Whatever form your expression of eco-distress takes is fair game! Please remember this is a safe space for all and no offensive or discriminative remarks will be tolerated.

This is a free event, however spaces are limited so bookings are essential. Performance tickets are currently sold out, but come along as an audience member and hope for a place to become available!
