Climate Cafe Facilitator Training

Event description

Climate Cafe Facilitator Training is for anyone who wishes to facilitate Climate Cafes in their communities.

*This training is currently only open for registrations for those who have received a link to book. On Thurs 18 April registrations will open to anyone else who meets the pre-requisites. (see below)


This training will include the following:

  • The framework and psycho-social principles of climate cafes
  • A short experiential climate cafe
  • A discussion on what emotions can emerge in a Climate Cafe and the facilitator’s role
  • Suggestions on how to set up and promote a Climate Cafe

This training considers the Australian context of the climate and ecological crises and the ongoing facilitator supervision required.

*All PSC events are run in an AEST/ADST timezone (Melbourne/Sydney) - if in another timezone please make sure you are aware of the correct start time, in advance.


Pre-requisites:

To attend this training session, you must have participated in at least 3 Climate Cafes beforehand. You will be asked to confirm details about those cafes on booking. Suggested links for online cafes are below:

Cost:

Standard registration: $190.00 (plus booking fee)

PSC members: 20% discount on entering your member discount code at the checkout

Supported rate: $50 (by request)

If you want to do this training but are not in a position to pay the full cost, please contact info@psychologyforasafeclimate.org to request financial support for a reduced price of $50 (plus booking fee).


Further support after this training:

Participants who attend this training session will be provided with a link to join PSC as a member on a one month free trial. This will enable participants who wish to continue their learning journey, to book into a session of Climate Cafe Facilitator Intervision (pending availability at time of booking). Climate Cafe Facilitator Intervision is our program of ongoing peer-support sessions for Climate Cafe Facilitators, and is only available to PSC members who have previously done this training.


Facilitators:


Christie Wilson, MA

Christie is a clinical and “climate psychotherapist” who supports climate leaders at the front line of the climate and ecological crises. She writes, facilitates and coordinates Climate-Aware Professional Development Programs for Psychology for a Safe Climate and supports mental health practitioners on their climate journey and bringing climate psychology into practice.


Sally Gillespie, PHD

Sally writes, lectures and facilitates workshops on climate psychology and ecopsychology. Her book Climate Crisis and Consciousness: Reimagining Our World and Ourselves explores the psychological challenges and developmental processes of climate engagement for individuals and societies. She is an active member of Psychology for a Safe Climate and the Climate Psychology Alliance.
