Psychology for a Safe Climate (PSC) is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2010 in Melbourne, Australia, to foster emotional engagement with climate change. PSC was founded in response to the lack of individual and community commitment to address the climate emergency.

We aim to increase understanding and engagement with the psychological impact of climate change.

Purpose

Our purpose is to support people in facing the reality of the climate emergency. We aim to build community capacity to respond constructively to climate change by promoting and strengthening mental health and wellbeing.

We engage with those working and volunteering in organisations on climate change, the caring professions, and the broader community.

Events

We provide training and workshops to offer emotional support to climate activists and teams working in sectors affected by climate change (environment, sustainability, etc), and for psychologists and other mental health professionals working at the intersection of climate change and mental health.

We also present community workshops and talks, all with the aim of helping to foster emotional engagement with climate change.

General Terms & Conditions of online bookings for PSC events on Humanitix:

Registration: For public workshops and training where registrations are on Humanitix, payment must be made upfront to secure a place.

Fee Assistance: Anyone experiencing financial hardship is encouraged to contact PSC on info@psychologyforasafeclimate.org.au for assistance in attending a workshop or event.

Refund Policy:

  • Climate Cafes: customers may return their own ticket to any of our regular Climate Cafés, for a full refund up to 24 hrs prior to the event via the link in their Humanitix confirmation email. (Humanitix booking fees can not be refunded.) Within 24 hours of the event, refunds are unfortunately not possible.

  • Speaker Series: Refunds are accepted up to 7 days prior to the event for 95% of the fee that was paid. (Humanitix bookings fees can not be refunded.). After that time, refunds are not possible.

  • Training and Professional development workshops: As event capacities are generally kept small and a lot of planning goes into these events, generally, refunds are not possible. Depending on your reason for cancelling, we may issue a credit for another PSC event. Credits must be used within a 12 month period.

Event Cancellation: PSC reserves the right to cancel a workshop or event due to low enrolment or other issues, in which case a full refund will be offered.

Event Postponement: it is very rare that a PSC event is postponed, but on the unusual occasion that this was necessary, existing registrants will be moved to the new date, notified via the email supplied when registering, and offered the opportunity to get a full refund if the new date is not suitable. It will be assumed that registrants can attend the new date, unless we are advised otherwise.

Complaints: Participants can address complaints by contacting PSC on info@psychologyforasafeclimate.org.au
