This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Join us for an industry leader presentation and panel discussion about climate change and how it presents a fundamental threat to human health and subsequent impacts on healthcare systems.

Climate change is already affecting natural and human systems, including social and economic conditions and the functioning of health systems (World Health Organisation). Climate change impacts population health and wellbeing, a fact not only important to the health sector, but to all that are in business, due to the significant impacts on our people, our teams and our clients and customers.

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in partnership with Tonkin + Taylor, the Sustainable Business Council and Southern Cross Healthcare will host this important discussion on the connection between climate change and health. Topics will include:

  • the creation and key findings of climate change scenarios for the healthcare sector, and why they matter to more than just those working in health
  • what the health sector is doing to combat climate change and support environmental sustainability, and why this is important and relevant to the delivery of healthcare services

Join us for breakfast from 8.15am with brief presentations followed by a panel facilitated by our friends at Sustainable Business Council.

Panel members:

  • Vicktoria Blake - Principal Advisor Climate Risk and Adaptation, Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora; Healthcare Sector Climate Scenarios Leadership Group Chair
  • Arveen Horsefield - Head of Sustainability and Compliance, Arvida; Healthcare Sector Climate Scenarios Technical Working Group Chair
