Join us for a candid, real-world exploration of one of Australia's most pressing environmental and agricultural challenges.

Our main speaker is the returning Darren De Bortoli, Managing Director of De Bortoli Wines—a proud, family-owned Australian company with over 100 years of history. Drawing from his direct experience as a leading Riverina producer, Darren will address the realities of climate change and the ongoing Murray-Darling Basin fiasco, including the impacts of current water policies on farmers, communities, and food production.

His insights will naturally lead into a wider discussion on the urgent need for new dams and improved water infrastructure to ensure reliable supply for agriculture and regional Australia.

This topic has been generating lively discussion among many of our members recently—so this is a timely and happy coincidence to hear straight from someone at the coalface of these issues. We particularly encourage those involved in those conversations to attend, ask questions, and contribute to what promises to be a robust exchange.

Complementing Darren's talk is Kevin Loughrey, the driving force behind Reforming Our Australian Democracy (ROAD)—a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to revitalising Australia's democratic framework. Through public debate, conventions, and referenda, ROAD seeks to reform electoral systems to attract higher-quality candidates, restructure governments for true separation of powers and efficient resource use, and update constitutions to limit government overreach while safeguarding citizens' inalienable rights.

Together, these presentations offer practical perspectives on climate/energy realities, water security failures, and the governance reforms needed to support evidence-based, common-sense policies in Australia.

We look forward to seeing you there for an evening of no-nonsense discussion, real-world insights, and open Q&A. Bring your thoughts and questions!
