This course begins with an introduction to the science of climate change and the associated climate justice issues. It will then turn to explore the international legal framework and the domestic legal framework, with a focus on the Commonwealth Safeguard Mechanism, the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting scheme and the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Act. The course will also explore the human rights issues and the developing international and domestic litigation landscape.

The course runs intensively across a three-day period. It consists of a series of seminars and instruction from expert speakers. The course will include discussion and group exercises.

Full attendance at this short course entitles a practitioner up to 10 Legal CPD points.

The CPD rules differ for jurisdictions outside Western Australia and if you are outside Western Australia, we recommend that you check with your local relevant authority whether you can claim any CPD points.
