Climate Emergency Conference 2024
Event description
Councils and communities reclaiming the climate emergency
2023 was the hottest year on earth in recorded history and we are seeing the increasing impacts of climate change around the world and here in Australia. The need for urgent action to reverse global warming has never been clearer.
Climate Emergency Australia in partnership with Maribyrnong City Council and supported by Victoria University invite you to join with other councils from around Australia to attend the Climate Emergency Conference 2024 in Melbourne. The conference will help reinvigorate climate action by councils and communities to reverse global warming and restore a safe climate.
This will be an opportunity for us to connect and reflect, share the lessons learned from more than six years of climate emergency response at the local government level, to re-focus our collective climate emergency action and talk about the next steps needed to restore a safe climate.
For councils yet to start their climate emergency journey this conference will help frame actions and set ambitious goals. For those who have already started down this path, we will explore what role councils can play in leading the response to reverse global warming.
You’ll come away with practical actions to strengthen your council’s climate emergency response, new examples and networks to draw on, and a feeling of being part of a movement. We aim to leave you inspired and well-equipped, with a solid plan for how your council, working with other councils, can help to restore a safe climate.
