How we can become part of the solution

“Climate change is the greatest global health threat facing the world in the 21st century, but it is also the greatest opportunity to redefine the social and environmental determinants of health,” according to the Lancet Countdown on health and climate change.

Published annually, this international collaboration is dedicated to monitoring the evolving health profile of climate change, and providing an independent assessment of the delivery of commitments made by governments worldwide under the Paris Agreement.

The latest report (October 2021) exposes an unabated rise in the health impacts of climate change, and the delayed and inconsistent response of countries around the world. The imperative is clear for accelerated action putting the health of people and the planet above all else.

Please join us as we explore how climate change is affecting our health in Australia and internationally, and what we can do about it.

About Catherine Pendrey

Catherine moderated the successful Higgins Candidates Climate Forum at Malvern Town Hall in May and has published on the importance of integrating social accountability and planetary health approaches.

She’s served as a member of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network of the Asia Pacific Region, and held senior leadership roles in organisations such as Climate and Health Alliance and Doctors for the Environment Australia.
