Event description

As the economy transitions towards net zero emissions, businesses are experiencing increasing pressure to adapt. One of the initiatives introduced by the Federal Government to facilitate Australia’s transition and to align with international climate reporting standards is the implementation of mandatory climate disclosures starting from January 1st this year. This includes reporting scope 3 emissions.

Many smaller businesses are finding the evolving requirements around climate and sustainability challenging, including how these changes will affect their operations, and when to embark on their climate journey.

To tackle this issue, we are offering introductory climate workshops aimed at clarifying these new regulations, outlining their implications for businesses—including potential data requests—and offering practical tools for getting started.

We are pleased to have Judy Payne (Manager – Procurement) and Amy Penny (Major Contracts Lead) from Nyrstar join us at the beginning of the workshop to provide a larger company perspective on the reporting.

Thanks to the generous support of Local Buying Foundation and our other partners, we are pleased to offer FREE climate workshops in the following SA regional towns.

Proudly supported by Local Buying Foundation, Industry Capability Network, AusIndustry, Tactic, Port Pirie Council and Business Port Pirie, the workshops will cover:

  • Introduction to Climate/Sustainability Reporting: Overview of new climate disclosure legislation and how it will impact businesses of all sizes;
  • Government programs supporting the transition: Overview of key government initiatives that are supporting the transition to a net zero economy.
  • Introduction to carbon measurement: Overview of scopes of emissions, methods for calculating emissions, identifying emissions in your business, options for next steps;
  • Data management: Collecting and storing data and documenting any assumptions made;
  • Target Setting: Learning how to identify targets, exploring new frameworks, examining your clients' emissions targets;
  • Creating an action plan: Understanding what types of decarbonisation actions are right for your business, identifying some quick win options;
