Due to unforeseen circumstances, this event has been cancelled. The exhibition will still be open from 11am – 5pm on Saturday and Sunday for the closing weekend. Thank you for your understanding.

Join us on the last weekend of Around for an informal Q&A with Nadine Christensen, facilitated by participants of the Around Nadine Study Group.

Led by curator, art writer and lecturer Rosemary Forde, the Study Group project has brought together VCA postgraduate and honours students for a convivial and intimate weekly group seminar focused on the work of artist Nadine Christensen.

Part critique session, part reading group, throughout March the Around Nadine Study Group has met at Buxton Contemporary, taking the exhibition and artworks as the key text for discussion. Through this extended and repeated viewing, each of the Study Group participants have formulated a question or brief response to pose to Nadine in this final public session to mark the end of the exhibition.

Buxton Contemporary opened in 2018 at the University of Melbourne’s art school, the Victorian College of the Arts. Designed by renowned architects Fender Katsalidis, the museum is comprised of four public exhibition galleries, teaching facilities, and the largest outdoor screen in Australia dedicated to the display of moving image art. The museum is located in the heart of the Melbourne arts precinct where it provides a creative forum through which the University engages local, national and international audiences with the best of contemporary Australian and international art. Sitting within the University of Melbourne Museums and Collections department, Buxton Contemporary has quickly become one of Melbourne’s must-see exhibition spaces.
