Description

'What [*things*] Are Melburnians Willing to Share?' is a one-week participatory exhibition by Lauren Brumley and Corey Ferguson, presented in the SO:ME Space of South Melbourne Market as part of Melbourne Design Week. It invites visitors to temporarily contribute an item they’d be willing to share - or request something they wish to borrow - exploring alternatives to ownership through a growing “library of things.” Across the week, shared items and requests form a live visualisation of community needs and generosity.

The exhibition concludes with a closing event featuring the contributed items and requests on display, as well as a community discussion on what this Library of Things shows. We will provoke questions around: Which items were offered versus requested? What patterns, gaps and mismatches reveal barriers to sharing? How might trust, rules and reciprocity enable (or constrain) collective ownership?

Join us for our closing workshop, featuring a one-hour community discussion with members of other Libraries of Things across our city and learnings from what [*things*] Melburnians are willing/wanting to share, followed by a happy hour in the Market for further discussion and connection.
